Presto Player Abilities
Presto Player now connects with AI assistants through a set of Abilities, built on the WordPress Abilities API. These Abilities let a connected assistant view and manage your videos, presets, chapters, captions, analytics, and LMS content, all through simple requests instead of manual clicks.
This article explains what each Ability does and what permissions it needs to run.
Applies to: Presto Player and Presto Player Pro (28 Abilities total).
Before You Begin
- Abilities marked (Pro) need Presto Player Pro.
- Every Ability checks two things before it runs: the connected account’s WordPress role and a set of toggles you control in your settings.
How Access Is Controlled
1. WordPress Capability
The connected account needs the right role for the task:
- Global settings and all analytics Abilities need an Administrator.
- Most video, preset, chapter, caption, and LMS Abilities need at least an Editor. Creating videos, presets, and playlists may also require publishing or upload rights.
- Non-admin users only see and manage their own videos and presets. They cannot touch content that belongs to someone else.
2. Ability Toggles
Go to Presto Player > Settings > Integrations > MCP.

| Toggle | What It Unlocks |

| Enable Abilities | Turns Abilities on. If this is off, nothing else works. |
| Allow edits | Let’s have an assistant create or change data, like adding a video or updating a preset. |
| Allow deletes | Let’s have an assistant delete a video or preset. |
| Enable MCP Server | Opens up Abilities to outside AI tools through Presto Player’s MCP endpoint. |
So, for any Ability to run, the account needs the right role, and the matching toggle needs to be on.
Tip: Keep Allow edits and Allow deletes off unless you actually want an assistant changing or removing your content.
Ability Categories
Abilities fall into four groups:
- Read-only, Analytics & Insights: See how videos are performing, views, viewers, and how far people watch.
- Read-only, Lookups: Find specific videos, presets, chapters, or settings.
- Write, Management: Create or update videos, presets, captions, playlists, and courses.
- Destructive: Move videos or presets to the trash.
Read-only Abilities: Analytics & Insights
Needs: Administrator + Enable Abilities

Read-only Abilities: Lookups

| Upload Bunny Video (Pro) | Registers a new video in Bunny Stream and returns its ID. |
| Transcribe Bunny Video (Pro) | Asks Bunny.net to auto-transcribe a video. |
| Translate Captions (Pro) | Translates a video’s captions into one or more languages. |
| Bulk Translate Collection Captions (Pro) | Translates captions for every video in a Bunny collection. |
| Create Smart Playlist (Pro) | Creates a rule-based playlist that fills itself from your library. |
| Create Course from Collection (Pro) | Builds a LearnDash course, one lesson per video, from a Bunny collection. |
| Add Quiz Question at Timestamp (Pro) | Attaches a multiple-choice question to a video at a chosen playback time. |
Destructive Abilities
Needs: Editor + Enable Abilities + Allow deletes

Note: Deletes go to the trash first, so they’re recoverable. Even so, keep Allow deletes off unless you need it.

A “Yes” in the Needs Admin column means the Ability only works for an Administrator. The rest work for any Editor.

With Abilities set up the way you want, you can hand off day-to-day video management to an AI assistant while keeping full control over what it’s allowed to touch.
