Automatic Video Syncing with Media Hub

The Media Hub Video Syncing feature simplifies the process of adding and organizing videos by ensuring everything stays in one place, your media hub.

This makes it easier to reuse your videos and ensure the presets and styles are consistent throughout your site, using the same videos.

This guide explains how automatic syncing works, why it’s useful, and how to disable it if needed.

What Is Media Hub Video Syncing?

Before this feature, there were two ways to add videos to your site:

  • Insert a video using the Presto Player block directly in the Gutenberg editor
  • Upload the video to the Media Hub, then insert it using a shortcode or block

Now, when you add a video through the Presto Player block in Gutenberg, that video is automatically saved to your Media Hub. This gives you centralized access to all your uploaded videos, even if you didn’t add them manually to the Hub.

NOTE: Syncing currently does not work for videos added via shortcodes.

Benefits of Media Hub Video Syncing

Automatic syncing helps keep video management straightforward:

  • All videos in one place – Any video added through the editor is saved in the Media Hub, so you don’t need to search through posts to find it later.
  • Fewer steps when adding videos – You can upload videos directly in the editor without switching to the Media Hub first.
  • Easier to manage over time – Keeping videos in the Media Hub makes it easier to review, reuse, or update them as your site grows.

You also don’t have to do anything to make sure your videos are synced, this is enabled by default on Presto Player.

How to Disable Syncing for All Videos

If you prefer not to automatically sync new videos to the Media Hub, you can disable this behavior from the Presto Player settings. This setting only affects videos added after it is changed. Any videos added before disabling sync will remain in the Media Hub.

To disable automatic syncing:

  1. Go to Presto Player > Settings in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Locate the Media Hub section.
  3. Under Default Sync Behavior, open the dropdown and select Not Synced.
  4. Click Update Settings to save your changes.

Automatic syncing will now be disabled for all newly added videos.

How to Disable Syncing for Specific Videos

If there are cases where you don’t want a video added to the Media Hub, you can turn off syncing on a per-video basis.

Here’s how:

  1. Edit the post or page where the video is embedded.
  2. Click on the Presto Player block to open its settings.
  3. Find the setting labeled “Don’t sync to Media Hub.”
  4. Enable this option to prevent that video from being stored in the Hub.

This gives you full control over what gets saved and what doesn’t.

Essentially, automatic video syncing is designed to reduce manual steps and keep your video library organized as your site grows.

You can leave it enabled for a simpler workflow, or turn it off globally or per video when you need more control. Either way, the Media Hub remains the central place to manage and reuse your videos consistently across your site.
